we sell very pretty lingerie at work and and yesterday I had a talk with my co-worker on what kinda underwear we prefer. she said she gave up on wearing all that lacy frilly stuff cause her boyfriend doesn’t really give a fuck and just tears if off of her anyway. I’ve experienced the same with guys I slept with, they never bothered whether I wore plain white slips or cutesy, cheeky thongs. Yes, a woman in pretty lingerie is nice to look at and surely men get turned on by the sight of the woman they desire dressed up in leather, lace or fishnets, but in the end, it’s true, in order to get what they really long for, they gotta take it off of you, so it doesn’t really matter in most cases. My co-worker then asked how lingerie companies still make so much money, cause we can impossibly be the only women who realised that men don’t give a fuck and cotton slips are way comfier than glittery g-strings and for a second, I wondered, too, but then I remembered that no woman should ever mainly strive to look good for a man, but FOR HERSELF, and every girl who’s ever tried on lingerie in her favourite colour knows what kinda self-esteem boost it gives you to see yourself in those pretty pieces. See, lingerie isn’t made for you to look good in it for a man, it is made for you to look good in for yourself. The truth is, lingerie designers don’t get paid by how many dicks get hard thanks to their products, but by how many women treat themselves to feel gorgeous in front of their mirrors alone at home. I wish people would stop associating lingerie with sex and seduction and deem it useless, because really, it’s something that’s mainly meant for women to feel hot and gorgeous in for themselves, and spending money to feel beautiful and confident is never useless.
I hope in 5 years I’ll be living in a warm loft in a foreign city spending my friday nights dancing to Drake’s soft songs on my black lingerie and drinking a glass of red wine while getting dressed to go out with a good looking and smart person
